Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 11

Hannah makes the most of each moment. A competitive dancer who practices 15–plus hours weekly (she has placed in the top 10 in a national competition), she is also a liturgical choir singer, writer, honors student, Disney Shining Star award winner … and the list goes on! She is passionate about T1D education, and founded the Diabetes Awareness Association at her school. The group hosts bake sales and other fundraisers to raise funds for Hannah’s local JDRF Walk, and partners with her team, “Hannah’s Troops.” She relies on her family, including her sister and two brothers, to get her through the highs and lows of T1D. “We refused to submit to the defeat,” she says of her diagnosis. “We took on this disease as a family. I have never felt alone.”
