Anna, who was diagnosed at age eight, sings with the Portland Opera, and plays piano, flute, dulcimer, soccer, basketball, tennis, and golf. She also loves to cook and specializes in gluten-free dishes, as she has celiac disease in addition to type 1. Anna's plate is full of activities she's passionate about, including her advocacy work with JDRF. She was a Walk Ambassador in 2009, her life with diabetes was featured in the Lake Oswego Review, and her Walk team, "Team Anna," has raised about $20,000 in four years. As a delegate, Anna wants to spread the word about type 1 and encourage Congress to continue research funding. In addition to her achievements as a JDRF advocate, Anna won the Champion of Character Award at her school. One day, she wants to have a family and be a neonatologist or an obstetrician.
