Gabriel's diligence, graciousness, and intelligence have helped him achieve great things as an athlete, Honor Roll student, and JDRF advocate. Diagnosed with both type 1 diabetes and alopecia when he was two, Gabriel has participated in the Promise to Remember Me Campaign; raised over $25,000 with his Walk team, "Gabriel's Angels;" sold JDRF bracelets to his classmates to raise money; and been interviewed on his local television news about diabetes. Gabriel's parents are also active with JDRF, and his father serves on the Board of Directors for the Indiana State Chapter. Gabriel enjoys baseball, soccer, basketball, swimming, golf, football, and traveling to warm places by the ocean. He wants to play sports in college and pursue a career in sports medicine. As a delegate, Gabriel wants to catch up with Congressman Joe Donnelley, who has been a supporter, and meet new friends with type 1.
