Zara has big aspirations! She is passionate about speech and debate, and wants to become a lawyer, then eventually run for congressional office. Zara says one of her biggest aspirations is to represent the diabetes community in all of her endeavors. “I have involved myself in as many activities as possible to help represent the T1D community to spread awareness to teammates, peers, and even my opponents!”

Some of the places Zara spreads T1D awareness are on the course with the golf team, on the basketball court, working as the director of breaking news for her school paper, and at speech and debate competitions. Zara is an active JDRF Youth Ambassador, serves as a mentor for newly diagnosed families, raises funds for One Walk, and volunteers at Galas. She is ready to advocate for the T1D community on Capitol Hill!
