Age at T1D diagnosis: 10

Sarah is involved in theater, sings in choir and plays varsity soccer and tennis. In the future, she wants to major in history and work as a museum curator. Finding JDRF was a big help to Sarah after her diagnosis, she says, “The realization that I was not alone in this fight and that I had support was extremely comforting.” Sarah has been a JDRF Youth Ambassador for four years. In that time she has spoken to 20 organizations to raise awareness and bring in donations. Sarah also takes part in JDRF One Walk–and her family hosts a golf event every year, raising more than $30,000 for JDRF. She adds, “Thousands of people are waiting for a cure, or anything that will make the daily battle with diabetes easier.”
