It’s hard to know how Mira finds the time to do everything she does! She is active in clubs at school including Key Club, DECA, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and participates in cross country. Mira also enjoys volunteering with younger children at her church, traveling, reading, and serving as a JDRF Youth Ambassador. Mira would like to attend college and sees herself doing something related to science and healthcare, which was inspired by her T1D and her desire to impact the T1D community.

Mira was shocked when she was diagnosed with T1D, because she has no family members who live with T1D, but she says it’s taught her a few valuable lessons. “Diabetes has taught me determination and resilience. It’s also taught me to be grateful for everything, and I think it’s made me have more empathy and be a more compassionate person.”
