Age: 14
Age at Diagnosis: 14

Luke wasn’t planning on attending JDRF 2023 Children’s Congress, but his brother, who has been living with T1D for eight years, was. That all changed on June 26th when he was diagnosed. This hasn’t slowed him down at all—he was back at cross country practice a mere three days after diagnosis!

Luke may be new to having T1D, but he’s not new to raising awareness. Even before his diagnosis, he volunteered at T1D day camp, participated in JDRF One Walks, and even received an award for his volunteer work around T1D. Luke’s activism won’t stop when Children’s Congress ends, as he hopes to become a physician for underserved communities in Appalachia.
