Khadidja loves to read, play the saxophone, and learn new things. When asked what she sees herself doing as an adult, Khadidja says she sees herself changing the world, and hopes to one day be on stage acting or be a doctor.

For a long time, Khadidja tried to hide her T1D. The rising costs of health care spurred her to start speaking out. “If I can make a small difference so other families won’t have to go through what my family goes through, I will, even if it means telling the whole world that I have T1D.” Khadidja is also embarking on this journey in honor of her older sister, who doctors believe passed away from undiagnosed T1D in their home country of Chad.
