For her sixth birthday, Billie wished for a magic wand to cure diabetes. When the wand didn't appear, she used what she did have: the ability to take action by helping JDRF raise money and spreading awareness about type 1. Diagnosed at age four, Billie has set a goal to raise $1 million for JDRF, and has already raised $60,000 through her efforts. Her great work includes organizing many fundraisers, such as barbeques and a jelly bean guessing competition; participating with her team of 250 people, "Billie's Brigade," in the JDRF Walk; and giving interviews about diabetes. Billie, who's also a JDRF Youth Ambassador, says "I take every opportunity that JDRF throws at me to raise awareness." Billie enjoys jazz dancing, acting, and Girl Guides, and aspires to become a performing artist. As a delegate, she wants to raise awareness, make friends, and share her experiences back home in Australia.
