Since being diagnosed at age six, Hannah has used her type 1 diabetes to inspire others and advocate for research and awareness. She was the poster child for her local JDRF chapter in 2007, was a guest speaker to nursing students at William Paterson University, spoke at the 2007 JDRF Annual Dream Gala in front of 700 people, sang on the United Nations lawn with Elliot Yamin on World Diabetes Day in 2006, received a 2010 Kohl's Kids Who Care scholarship, and has organized numerous fundraisers with her Walk to Cure Diabetes team, "Hannah's Bananas."

Hannah's hobbies include reading, participating in theater, playing the clarinet, and making music videos with her friends. She's also an honor student. "I feel as if I have a moral obligation not only to myself, but to every other person living with diabetes who cannot speak to Congress," she says. "I need to be their voice."
