Age: 17
Age at Diagnosis: 3

Isabella has had some firsthand experience when it comes to legislation that would positively impact the T1D community. As a member of Youth in Government, she gained the role of head of health and human services in the governor’s cabinet by introducing a mock bill that lowered the price of insulin. Isabella brings that passion to everything she does, especially raising T1D awareness as both a JDRF Youth Ambassador and Youth Advocacy Leader.

In her free time, Isabella loves playing softball (she was recently voted MVP of her school’s team!), baking, and volunteering with her school. “I enjoy meeting other players who have T1D and make it a point to meet them after the game. There have been multiple instances where other kids recently diagnosed are watching a game and want to talk with me afterwards.” When she’s older, she plans on pursuing a career in biomedical engineering and wants to help design medical devices, especially those that benefit people living with T1D.
