Henry is a perfect mix of athleticism and academics. Just last year he made it to the Academic Games National Tournament and scored the game-winning free throw in a basketball championship game. He loves to design things, from floor plans to robots, and hopes to have a career in engineering or architecture when he’s older.

After Henry was diagnosed with T1D, Henry’s family got screened for T1D. His sister’s test determined that she had two T1D autoantibodies, indicating that she is very likely to develop T1D in her lifetime. This inspired Henry to get involved in clinical trials and advocacy. He says, “T1D research is important because it can help improve the technology that has helped me do the things I do today.” Henry is hopeful research will one day make T1D nonexistent.
