Age: 14

Age at T1D diagnosis: 10

Gal enjoys riding horses, playing basketball and sharing her experience with T1D. When she was diagnosed, she worried what her friends would think, but they accepted her with open arms. She says, “When I saw their reaction I got a lot of motivation to continue my way of treating my diabetes and not giving it up for a second.” Gal helps build T1D awareness by taking part in events like JDRF’s “Walk for a Sweet Future,” speaking with students at her school and even telling her T1D story for Israeli TV. When it comes to her goals, she says, “My biggest dream is to get to the Olympics in English horseback riding, and later on to be a scientist and a researcher so that I can find the cure for different diseases.”
