Age at T1D diagnosis: 5

After his first JDRF Walk, Jack served as a JDRF Walk Ambassador and created “Team Jack of Hearts,” the largest JDRF Walk team in Western Canada, which has raised more than $135,000 for T1D research. In 2012, Jack attended Kids for a Cure Awareness Day to help JDRF explain why funding for T1D research is so critical. Jack says, “It is extremely important to bring awareness of T1D to decision makers. Representing Canada in Washington, D.C., will show people this is a worldwide disease; and by working together we can find a cure.” Jack enjoys basketball, baseball and skiing. “Managing my disease is a full-time job. I’m hoping we can discover a better way for me to manage my diabetes, which will make for a better and easier life.”
