Age: 14
Age at T1D diagnosis: 8

A native of Denmark, Freja has been telling her T1D story for years. In 2012, her parents published a book about T1D, which included a chapter by Freja which she wrote after she was diagnosed. She says, “There is a chapter with my diary and how I felt at that time. My story is told in the book.” Freja has been in several clinical trials, including one for a low-glucose suspend insulin pump. She’s proud to “represent Denmark at JDRF 2017 Childrens Congress.” She believes that telling your story can make a real difference. She explains “I hope that I can make a difference so the politicians and researchers can be aware of what it is like to live with diabetes in Denmark, and that we must keep researching to make it easier for us to live with the disease and avoid complications.”
