Age: 9
Age at T1D diagnosis: 3

Crew has had T1D for more than half of his young life. “Being type 1 is harsh,” he says. “I don’t really like having T1D.” Instead of finger sticks and insulin dosing, he’d like to focus on movies (especially Disney movies), zoos and aquariums—not just because they are fun activities, but because these are his future career plans. Crew and his family raise money for a T1D cure by cycling and walking for JDRF. Crew has also visited his Congresswoman and told her about T1D. He wants Congress to support T1D research to help find a cure for those who need one. “I want a cure because I don’t want to have a disease,” he says.
