Turning hope into reality through action is something Cassidy's parents taught her. Diagnosed at 16 months old, Cassidy helps younger children at her school who have diabetes by educating their classmates about the disease, and even taught her school nurse about diabetes management.

Turning hope into reality through action is something Cassidy’s parents taught her. Diagnosed at 16 months old, Cassidy helps younger children at her school who have diabetes by educating their classmates about the disease, and even taught her school nurse about diabetes management. She participates annually in the JDRF Walk, and has raised thousands of dollars for research. Cassidy has her parents as role models – her mom went back to school to become a nurse, to help people with diabetes live better lives until a cure is found. Cassidy is a talented dancer, is part of a “Green Team” to raise awareness about recycling, plays volleyball, and is in the French Club. She is also a straight-A student, and one day wants to be a children’s book author or a Broadway dancer. As a delegate, Cassidy wants to help Congress understand what it’s like to have diabetes.
