Age at Diagnosis: 15

Casey’s favorite subject in school is chemistry. In the future, she envisions herself as a veterinarian or in a STEM-oriented career. Her love of science has helped her better understand the specifics of her recent T1D diagnosis.

Casey is also an award-winning artist, preferring graphite as her medium, and a musicianshe sings and plays the piano and violin. She is secretary of her 10th-grade class, on the varsity soccer team, and (almost) a black belt in martial arts. Although Casey excels in academics and many activities, she still faces daily obstacles and challenges because of T1D and wants to change that, for herself and for the thousands of others diagnosed every year. “My hope is that every child and adult will be provided with the essential supplies and education needed to thrive with T1D.”
