Age at T1D diagnosis: 4

“Last year at the JDRF family retreat, there was a speaker who said that I should ‘make diabetes the best thing that has ever happened to me,'” recalls Ethan. “My family and I have embraced this idea and are constantly looking for ways to educate people about type 1 diabetes.” From JDRF Rides and participating in clinical trials to appearing on TV and even on a magazine cover, Ethan doesn’t just talk the talk—he walks the walk (and the JDRF Walk, too!). Ethan is also busy with sports, tae kwon do, and learning about engineering, science and Greek mythology (his favorite Greek god is Hades). “I am anxious and hopeful to represent my district in Washington, D.C.,” he says. “I’m ready to take my ideas to the top!”
