Age: 17
Age at T1D diagnosis: 7

Amanda—whose father and grandfather also have T1D—has grown up with JDRF. Taking part in JDRF One Walks, JDRF Ride, advocating through Promise to Remember Me meetings and sharing their stories to promote awareness is a family affair. Amanda has also taken on the role of a T1D mentor, she explains, “I realized I can make a difference in this little girl’s life and show everyone that nothing is impossible with T1D.” In her spare time, Amanda enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing soccer and snowboarding. She is thinking about studying athletic training in college. “I am who I am because of the hardships I endure with T1D, and I can use it to make a positive impact on the world and on T1D.”
