Sydney enjoys being part of a large family, and she loves dance and theater. When it comes to managing her blood sugar, she says, “For the most part I am pretty good at participating in pretty much anything I want to—but it is a lot for a kid to have to think about all day long every day for their entire life.” Sydney is a 4.0 student at her high school, where she has served on the student council for the past five years and is the sophomore class president-elect. She is also passionate about awareness, which led to her creating a Facebook page which has helped bring attention to T1D warning signs. Sydney is a JDRF Youth Ambassador and the captain of 40-person JDRF One Walk. “Diabetes has caused me a lot of tears, a lot of pain, a lot of frustration and some limitations, and I am ready for a cure!”
