Age: 13
Age at T1D diagnosis: 7

November 30, 2007, is a day Zachary can’t seem to forget. It was the day he learned he had T1D. These days, though, Zachary is more independent than ever before. He tests on his own and uses a pump. Yet he still hopes for a cure. “Finding a cure would help millions of people. Finding a cure would be the highlight of my entire life.”

An accomplished athlete, Zachary has won a championship with his premier soccer team and also enjoys baseball and ice hockey. He also plays games like Monopoly and Life, likes science fiction, and has played piano for more than seven years. Someday, he’d like to become a scientist or a doctor. For now, he has set his sights on running track in high school.
