William has had a JDRF Walk team since being diagnosed eight years ago. He's met with Congress in support of the Special Diabetes Program renewal, and continues to speak on behalf of JDRF as a JDRF Youth Ambassador. He even got to meet American Idol runner-up Crystal Bowersox, who has type 1, and show her his OmniPod, which she'd never seen before. William was also asked to become a part of a local JDRF advocacy team. William's own struggles with type 1 fuel his determination to make a difference. William enjoys cycling, baseball, swimming, and photography, and plays the alto saxophone in his school band. He loves traveling and learning about different cultures. One day, he would like to travel to countries in need of support. William says his goal is "…to be a role model and set an example of hope and courage to all those fighting this disease."
