"I am a very positive person who tries to do everything to the very best of my ability, and that includes caring for myself and making others aware of type 1 diabetes," William says. Diagnosed at age six, William is a JDRF Youth Ambassador, has raised funds through many activities (including a rollerblading marathon), and is vocal in educating others in school about type 1.

During his first visit to the United States, William wants to use his opportunity as a delegate to remind the U.S. and U.K. governments about the importance of funding diabetes research and supporting children with type 1. He also hopes to make good friends with other children who have type 1, so that he can learn from them and share his experiences. William enjoys dinghy sailing and racing, ice skating, rollerblading, graphic design, and electronic gadgets.
