Age: 17
Age at T1D diagnosis: 4

Tylie was the first of her siblings to receive a T1D diagnosis. Of the four kids in her family, three have the disease today. Despite her family’s daily struggle, Tylie maintains hope for a cure. “I know that no matter how well I take care of myself, type 1 diabetes will always be with me, causing other problems along the way. But there are scientists and researchers and the Special Diabetes Program that are ready to fight type 1 diabetes and make sure that no one has to worry about that.”

Tylie is vice president of her school’s DECA chapter and has won the Presidential Academic Award. She has dreams of working in film and video someday. Some of her other passions include writing and making videos.
