Age: 14
Age at T1D diagnosis: 3

Thomas and his family have been active with JDRF since shortly after his diagnosis at age three. Thomas has served as a Youth Ambassador for the Rocky Mountain Chapter for the past three years, volunteered at the chapter’s 2015 and 2016 Galas, and has participated in the local JDRF One Walk for the past nine years. Thomas is a Boy Scout, an accomplished piano player, and is a member of the Ken Caryl Little League baseball team. An aspiring biochemical engineer, Thomas works with JDRF in hopes of making life easier for people with T1D. “I am not doing this so my life is easier,” he says. “I want to help others who have trouble dealing with T1D because not all people can handle diabetes the way I can.”
