It would be tough to find something that Sofia hasn’t done to raise awareness around T1D. She’s participated in JDRF One Walk events, Galas, served as a Youth Ambassador, and she even started a support group for people living with T1D along with her local chapter. Sofia has participated in several clinical trials, and says, “I love being a part of trials because it gives me the opportunity to try out the latest T1D technology.” Her work with JDRF and the T1D community is something Sofia is incredibly proud of, and she says she aims to educate whenever she can, wherever she can.

Sofia is a member of the dance team, and serves as a social officer and recruitment chair, enjoys volunteering at her church, knitting, crocheting, and baking. Sofia is also bilingual and has done videos in Spanish for JDRF! Sofia hopes to use the public speaking skills she’s gained as a T1D advocate to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer, and eventually, a politician.
