Age: 11
Age at T1D diagnosis: 5

Sean plays football, soccer and baseball—but hockey is his favorite sport. He also enjoys reading, art and Star Wars. Managing his T1D can be tough and at times Sean gets worried. He explains, “This affects not only me, but my family and friends. I always have in the back of my mind that I could not wake up if my numbers go too high or low.” Recent research advances give him hope. Sean is proud to act as a JDRF Youth Ambassador, a JDRF One Walk team captain and a volunteer with his local JDRF Gala. He also helps spread awareness about T1D by speaking at schools and community events. He says, “I am committed to doing whatever I need to do to get us closer to a cure.”
