Age: 14
Age at Diagnosis: 7

Savannah is very enthusiastic about causes that are important to her. Since her T1D diagnosis, she and her family have been actively involved in JDRF events and promoting awareness around T1D. She gave a speech in front of her city council asking them to recognize National Diabetes Awareness Month, and has also met with her U.S. Representatives to advocate for insulin affordability. Savannah just finished participating in her second clinical trial, which makes her feel like she is contributing to the advancement of life-changing T1D technology. “Being able to participate has given me a firsthand perspective on the work that JDRF does to fund the development of new technologies.”

When she is not advocating for the T1D community, Savannah enjoys reading, baking, babysitting, and she is especially proud to have been chosen to run cross country at the State Championship. Savannah also discovered her interest in global and national policy through participating in her school’s Model United Nations program, and she hopes to go into policymaking as an adult.
