Sadie’s passions are art, writing, math and law. Last year she took a class trip to Washington, D.C., where the Supreme Court building captivated her. She explains, “Sonia Sotomayor is a particular inspiration to me, as she also has type 1 diabetes. Her life and hardships continue to push me to do better and work as hard as I can.” Throughout the years, Sadie has met with six of her Members of Congress to discuss the importance of funding T1D research. But her favorite way to get involved is raising money and awareness through her local JDRF One Walk. “It is extremely important for fundraising and advocating to continue at the same or an increased pace until we eventually find a cure that is accessible to everyone with T1D.”
