Piper is tremendously active in the East Tennessee Branch of JDRF. She has filmed fundraising videos for the branch, and even got to meet Jared Fogle, the "Subway Guy," and accept a $43,000 check for JDRF from the Tri-City Subways.

Piper is tremendously active in the East Tennessee Branch of JDRF. She has filmed fundraising videos for the branch, and even got to meet Jared Fogle, the "Subway Guy," and accept a $43,000 check for JDRF from the Tri-City Subways. Along with her family and friends, Piper walks with her team, "Piper's Posse," in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes every year, and participates in many other fundraising events. Piper is open about her diabetes with those she meets, and wants to spread awareness of type 1. In addition to being a JDRF spokesperson, Piper, who was diagnosed at age three, enjoys swimming, participating in her church group, and cheerleading. One day, she wants to help find a cure for diabetes, and is interested in becoming a nurse so that she can take care of others.
