Oliver has been highly involved with JDRF since his diagnosis 3 years ago, from volunteering at Galas to participating in One Walks to being a Youth Ambassador and serving as a JDRF Advocate at Promise to Remember Me meetings. He recently spent 2 weeks in the Dominican Republic helping to run a summer camp for kids with T1D. Oliver loves to compose and listen to music. He also loves to write and has a blog—the Poetic Diabetic—for his Southern Florida Chapter. “This blog has been a key tool for T1D community outreach in the Palm Beach area and has spread awareness about several intricacies of diabetes.”
When he is older, Oliver envisions himself as a pediatric psychiatrist or endocrinologist. He’s looking forward to using his voice for diabetes advocacy. “Until a cure happens, every person with T1D should have access to affordable insulin prices.”
