Noel loves to bake and decorate cakes, and one day would like to become a pastry chef. Just like creating a delicious dessert, spreading awareness of type 1 and raising money for research take the right ingredients, including patience, passion, and hard work. That's why Noel, diagnosed at 15 months old, worked with her mom and school nurse to organize school-wide Walks to benefit JDRF, raising almost $7,000. The events helped her classmates learn about diabetes, and gave her the opportunity to share about her experience with type 1. As a delegate, Noel wants to tell her story and help Congress understand what an important ingredient their financial support is for diabetes research. In addition to baking, Noel is close to earning her black belt in karate, and enjoys reading Harry Potter books so much that she has nearly memorized the story.
