Age: 9
Age at T1D diagnosis: 6

Nadia has become an inspiration to those around her since her diagnosis at age six. Her mom, Jennifer, says, “It is so hard for her, but she makes me so proud of how she doesn’t give me a hard time about anything, and she does what she has to do. Her courage and strength are what give me the strength to get through this every day.”

Nadia, who loves learning new things, has won awards for her science projects, as well as for her math and reading ability. She loves running, swimming, and arts and crafts. Nadia’s mom has started a support group for T1D parents in their community. Both mother and daughter share their hopes for Children’s Congress: to achieve “more funding for research and help to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.”
