Myriam – the first child in Quebec to attend kindergarten with an insulin pump – inspired the development of a French language storybook (endorsed by JDRF) that will help simplify insulin pump technology for children. She also inspired astronaut Piers Sellers to take a JDRF flag into space in the NASA STS 132 mission in May 2010.

An award-winning performer of Irish dance, Myriam likes playing the saxophone, horseback riding, and spending time with friends. Myriam has been a strong advocate for JDRF by lobbying for research funding, helping to organize Walks, speaking at fundraising events, and serving as a Youth Ambassador. As a delegate, she hopes to convince the American and Canadian governments to provide greater funding for diabetes research. One day, Myriam would like to work in the health sciences field.
