Age: 17
Age at T1D diagnosis: 10

Margaret is very passionate about dance, visual art and volunteering. She says, “Despite my diagnosis, I am extremely proud to say that I have never—and will never—let type 1 diabetes limit my aspirations and dreams.” She’s also led the ‘Margaret’s March’ team for JDRF One Walk and formed a JDRF club at her high school. Last year, the group created a school team that raised more than $5,000 for T1D research. Margaret is also a JDRF Youth Ambassador and volunteers at her local Hope Gala. She hopes to one day enter the field of dance medicine—and become a physical therapist for dancers—or take on a more traditional role as a physician.
