Age: 15
Age at T1D diagnosis: 4

When forced to evacuate by Hurricane Harvey, Lulu and her family were most concerned about packing enough insulin and T1D supplies before leaving their home and wading through waist-deep water. Despite this devastating experience, Lulu chooses to live with no limits. She is a member of her school’s varsity dance team, National Charity League, rock climbing club and American Sign Language Honor Society. On top of all that, she is deeply involved with JDRF and the T1D community. “I want to be a part of Children’s Congress because I want to get a chance to tell my story in the hopes that it will persuade Members of Congress to continue approving money for research by renewing the Special Diabetes Program.”
