Luke's enthusiastic personality fuels the great things he's doing on behalf of diabetes research. Diagnosed at age seven, he recorded a radio commercial for JDRF and was pictured on JDRF coupon books, helping to raise over $93,000, of which Luke is rightfully proud.

Luke's enthusiastic personality fuels the great things he's doing on behalf of diabetes research. Diagnosed at age seven, he recorded a radio commercial for JDRF and was pictured on JDRF coupon books, helping to raise over $93,000, of which Luke is rightfully proud. Since his dad also has type 1, Luke has participated in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes all his life, and each year, the family also raises money for JDRF in Luke's dad's restaurants. Luke recently enjoyed a three-week camp for children with diabetes, and loves playing sports, reading, skateboarding, and wrestling with his dog, Tex. He has run in a kids' marathon, won a writing award through PBS for a story he wrote, and won a medal during the Math Pentathlon. One day, Luke wants to become a veterinarian, and to invent a needle-free syringe that gives insulin without pricking.
