Age: 5
Age at T1D diagnosis: 1

Leland loves to play Minecraft, ride his Superman bike and dress up as a Storm Trooper. He is very proud of gaining the courage to jump into the pool by himself this summer. Leland’s twin brother Lincoln also has T1D. The family takes part in JDRF One Walk every year—and attend their JDRF Galas, TypeOneNation Summit and the Type One Tots playgroup. They’ve also attended JDRF Twins Game Days over the years. Leland is able to test his own blood sugar, read the numbers, and understand whether they are high or low. His mother says, “We are so proud of Leland and his positive attitude for everything! He is so brave and handles T1D like a champ!” When he grows up, Leland wants to be a cowboy—or a daddy with two kids.
