Kristine has lived with diabetes for seven years, but says, "Even with the struggles, I haven't stopped with anything I try to achieve." A couple years ago, Kristine grew tired of diabetes. She stopped testing her blood sugar regularly, didn't manage her insulin levels, and started to experience negative consequences. Those consequences helped Kristine realize that she had to stop letting diabetes control her. Now she uses her newfound confidence and disease management to support and educate newly diagnosed children. She also raises awareness of diabetes and fundraises for research, raising money every year for the JDRF Walk with help from her cheerleading teammates. In addition to cheerleading, Kristine enjoys tumbling, lacrosse, music, and photography. A High Honor Roll student, she wants to continue helping children with diabetes. As a delegate, she wants to open more doors to research, and show other children that diabetes can strengthen them.
