Kathlyn is a straight-A student and a member of a competitive dance team. She also serves as a JDRF Youth Ambassador, and organized a JDRF One Walk team that raised nearly $5,000 for T1D research this year. An avid painter, Kathlyn’s artwork appears on posters to promote National Diabetes Awareness Month which now hangs on the wall of Congressman Steve Womack’s office. Kathlyn met with the Congressman as part of JDRF Advocacy’s Promise to Remember Me initiative. An aspiring actress, Kathlyn makes frequent appearances to discuss what it’s like to live with T1D and encourage continued funding for T1D research. “JDRF has made huge advances in managing my diabetes,” she says. “But I’m still anxious for there to be a real, true cure.”
