Kate is passionate about improving the lives of those with T1D. She has volunteered to participate in clinical trials studying new T1D technology and treatments, and wants everyone to have access to excellent medical care. Kate loves being active with JDRF and the T1D community, whether it is through JDRF One Walks, Galas, or mentoring newly diagnosed families. “It’s a fun way to honor those in my community who have supported me, and to bring awareness to the needs of the T1D community as a whole.”

Kate eagerly studies history, literature, and new languages (she’s currently studying Mandarin) in school and loves to travel. She’s active in student government, theater, soccer, and has placed first in a poetry competition. When she gets older, Kate sees herself as a historian or archivist because she believes that we can all learn a lot from history and apply those learnings to our world today.
