Age: 14
Age at T1D diagnosis: 5

Kate is a very gifted musician, playing an impressively long list of instruments. She studies piano, organ, cello, guitar and percussion. Kate also has a passion for advocating for people with T1D like herself. Following her diagnosis at age five, she and her entire family became tremendous supporters of T1D research through their participation in the JDRF Ride, JDRF One Walk, Gala, Advocacy and also simply sharing Kate’s story with people they meet. As Kate puts it, “we need the support of our representatives to pass legislation that will help us fund, research and, eventually, find a cure and turn ‘Type 1’ into ‘Type None.’”
