Age: 7
Age at T1D diagnosis: 2

“My type 1 diabetes does not stop me from doing anything,” declares Kaelyn. “I know, because Mom and Dad tell me that I can do anything I want. I just need to take a few more precautions.” Diagnosed at age 2, Kaelyn and her family now enjoy telling classmates and the public about how T1D impacts their lives, spreading the word via social media, speaking to Congressional Representatives, and sharing T1D information at local festivals. Kaelyn participated in two JDRF Walks last year, as well as the JDRF Promise to Remember Me campaign in 2013. Beyond her passion for boosting awareness, Kaelyn loves reading, horseback riding and cheerleading. She has even competed in a cheerleading competition. She recalls, “I was a little nervous, but really like performing in front of everyone.”
