When Jordan was diagnosed with diabetes at age 11, she already knew all about the disease – both her older brother and her father have type 1 diabetes, and her mother has type 2 diabetes. "It's been very hard on my family and on me, but we do our best, one day at a time," she says.

When Jordan was diagnosed with diabetes at age 11, she already knew all about the disease – both her older brother and her father have type 1 diabetes, and her mother has type 2 diabetes. "It's been very hard on my family and on me, but we do our best, one day at a time," she says. The whole family participates in the JDRF Walk under the team name "Beals 4, NO MORE." In addition, Jordan is helping her mom coordinate a fundraising walk at her school. As a delegate, Jordan hopes to convince Congress to give greater funds to diabetes research. A good student and a great friend, Jordan loves soccer and music. She also likes collecting Webkinz and Silly Bandz, swimming, and riding her bike. She is inspired by her mom, who volunteers to help children in the community, and by Nick Jonas, who lives a full life with diabetes.
