“I am one person out of the millions of others in this country, but I have learned that one voice can make a difference if you make it loud enough,” says Jordan. Jordan projects her voice as an advocate: she has organized a fundraiser and walkathon, speaks to classmates about the myths associated with T1D, and volunteers at the Diabetes Golf Classic each year. “I cannot tell you how many times I have spoken to my class in science or health about the disease … I have become the face of diabetes at my school,” she confides. “And I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Jordan also takes the lead on the field, playing softball and volleyball creates her own video productions and attends Camp Surefire as a leader in training.
