When Jonathan returned to school after being diagnosed at age six, his mother explained diabetes to his classmates. Since then, his entire school has been supportive, and has even raised money for and participated in the JDRF Walk.

When Jonathan returned to school after being diagnosed at age six, his mother explained diabetes to his classmates. Since then, his entire school has been supportive, and has even raised money for and participated in the JDRF Walk. Diabetes is still fairly new to Jonathan, and his parents have advised him to manage his disease, but not to let it control his life. He loves swimming and playing basketball with friends, is a master Lego builder, and one day, wants to become a dad with a family of his own. As a delegate, Jonathan wants to share his personal story with Congress and put a face to the disease he lives with every day.
