Diagnosed at age three, Jarrett says diabetes has made him more responsible, aware, and grateful. "Having diabetes has made me realize that you should make the most of your life and not complain, because it could be worse," he says.

Diagnosed at age three, Jarrett says diabetes has made him more responsible, aware, and grateful. "Having diabetes has made me realize that you should make the most of your life and not complain, because it could be worse," he says. Throughout elementary school, Jarrett helped his mom organize a school-wide walk that raised about $5,000 a year for diabetes research. As a delegate, he wants to raise awareness about diabetes by sharing his story. Jarrett, who likes to learn new things, plays the piano, saxophone, and guitar. He has been Polish folk dancing since he was three, and is the photographer for his school's yearbook. He was also nominated for the People to People World Leadership Forum, and has been a Student Council member for three years.
