Jackie is an honors student, a freshman class officer, a member of the Spanish Club, Pep Club and show choir, and competes in golf, basketball and track. Jackie is an avid T1D advocate and has written a book called Just Call Me Jackie: A Teenager’s List of Lessons Learned (So Far) from Having Type 1 Diabetes, with all proceeds donated to JDRF. She also serves on the University of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center Teen Advisory Panel. Jackie and her family participate in JDRF One Walk events, Galas and TypeOneNation Summits, and she is ready to come to D.C. to advocate for continued progress. “There have been so many advances in T1D research, and with continued funding, these advances have the potential to lead to bigger advances, and eventually a cure.”
