“I am NOT a diabetic, I HAVE diabetes,” says Jack, who wants to make one thing very clear: people with T1D are just like everyone else. Diagnosed just two years ago, Jack doesn’t like talking about his T1D, but he has enthusiastically embraced the role of fundraiser for T1D research. He and his family participate in the New Jersey Metro and Rockland County Chapter’s JDRF One Walk event, as well as the Gala. Jack made it possible for JDRF to participate in his school’s Service Learning Day and initiated the Piggy Bank Challenge to collect loose change to benefit T1D research. A member of the Somerset County, New Jersey minor league championship baseball team, Jack also enjoys swimming, skateboarding and fishing.
